Living dangerously

In regard to reference to the role of danger in life found in Emerson’s essays, it has been said that Nietzsche goes beyond him by making danger a principle of life. The truth of the matter is that the paradigmatic Nietzschean imperative -- “Live dangerously” -- is first suggested to him by Emerson. Although he does not coin this striking existential imperative, he often extols the value of danger for personal and moral growth, for the strengthening of character, for the attainment of excellence. ~ Page 51
