THE BLACK YEAR
Suetoinius’s en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suetonius arrival at the Menai Straits with two legions, auxiliaries and a battle fleet in the spring of A.D 60 was graphically described by Tacitus. The Romans faced an armed mass of Celts intermingled with Druids, both men and women, shrieking curses upon them. The sight was so weird and unnerving that at first the legionaries stood watching in terror, unable to move. This was the Druids first important concerted appearance upon the stage of world history. It was also to be their last. ~ Page 87
