N932ML DC-9-31 US Navy

Firebird II sealed up for long term storage at Mojave 21/10/05.
This DC-9 was delivered to Ansett Airlines as VH-CZJ in April 1971.
Purchased by Midway Airlines in September 1981 it was registered N932ML and remained in service until November 1991 when Midway ceased operations.
Subsequently, it was leased by Spirit Airlines from March 1992 until April 1998.
Acquired by the US Navy (still as N932ML) in May 1998 it was modified by Raytheon for use in experimental and research projects. It was withdrawn from use and stored at Mojave from March 2002 until April 2008 when it took to the air once again.
