Looking north from Low Row towards Hadrians Wall and the Scottish Border.
Photo taken through the window of an East Coast Trains diverted HST whilst parked at Low Row level crossing - about 14 miles east of Carlisle on the Tyne Valley Line from Newcastle to Carlisle.
Due to a signal power failure a few miles outside Newcastle, and a landslide near Brampton, the journey of 1hr 32mins took nearly 3 hours. Plenty of time to admire the scenery....

There are some fine images of birds on Ipernity. This is not one of them!
Just as I pressed the shutter the woodpecker ducked down behind the gatepost, and this is the resulting photo. The top of its head can just be seen above the post. It flew off shortly after.

Edit. 20May20.
Manchester Airport is host to between 300 - 400 flights a day in normal times.
These are not normal times, and arrivals and departures are now down to single figures.
The record, if such it can be called, occurred a couple of weeks ago, with just 5 arrivals and 7 departures all day.
Crazy times.
