Earth, metal, wood, water, fire

The sunday challenge = Earth metal wood water fire --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The five elements (earth, wood, fire, water, metal) refer to a Chinese philosophy that says that the five elements constitute everything in our universe. These elements do not just stand on their own but also have specific interactions and relationships with each other. It is a huge philosophy and used in Chinese medicine, feng shui, fortune-telling, and martial arts. You are welcome to focus on one of the five the elements, a combination of two or more of the elements or of the interactions between the elements. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Earth, wood and metal are obvious here, fire is necessary for a blacksmith to produce the spade, the colour of the earth tells us water is present

Wabi-Sabi

The Sunday Challenge = Wabi Sabi In traditional Japanese aesthetics, wabi-sabi (侘寂) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete" in nature. It is prevalent throughout all forms of Japanese art. More Wabi Sabi in this link ----------------------------------------------------- Abundant rain has been prosperous for algae, fungi, lichens and moss. The dead leaf is desintegrating, as a part of natures recycling operations. This weeks challenge stimulates us to look with different eyes

Hagelslag

The Sunday Challenge = Chocolate --------------------------------------------------- In the Netherlands, hagelslag refers to small pieces of confectionery, similar to sprinkles, that are used as a topping for buttered bread. This iconic Dutch food is eaten at meals or as a snack and is popular with both children and adults. Hagelslag is offered in a variety of flavors and colors, with chocolate being the most common. Hagelslag is similar to sprinkles in their appearance, but that is where the likeness ends. In order for chocolate hagelslag to be called chocoladehagelslag, it needs to contain at least 32 percent cocoa. On the other hand, American chocolate sprinkles are made of very little cocoa and are mostly sugar, corn syrup, lecithin, and carnauba wax.

Steps

The sunday challenge = mushrooms/fungi ------------------------------------------------------------ (I guess) this is Fomitopsis betulina (previously Piptoporus betulinus), commonly known as the birch polypore, birch bracket, or razor strop, a common bracket fungus and, as the name suggests, it grows almost exclusively on birch trees. The brackets burst out from the bark of the tree, and these fruit bodies can last for more than a year.
