The sunday challenge = the oldest thing in the house
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aged exactly hundred years this photo certainly is the oldest item in our house, a large original portrait of my fathers family "Snijders". You can see the proof in the lower right corner, it is signed and dated by the photographer in 1920.

A father and mother with seven children. Number eight, the youngest child died six months old in 1904. My grandmother to be is sitting on the bench. Only three years later she would die, leaving behind two very young boys with their father, on the other hand most of her brothers and sisters reached the very old age of over 90 years.....

The woman standing on the left was my godmother, she died 1995 at the age of 104 years, being the last survivor, more than 90 years after her youngest sister ......

Isn't life a lottery?

Perhaps our genes aren't the only answer Luc ... too many unknowns in life to say for sure. I'm glad your father had an image of his mother, one reason, albeit sad, that for those of us with the family photographs, they are truly treasures to hold dear.
