A surfeit of Standards!

The first day of the GCR Winter Gala and visiting British Railways Standard 4 2-6-4T tank 80080 stands on the middle road ready to go off shed at Loughborough. One of the most handsome BR engines IMO.

On adjacent roads are BR Standard 2 2-6-0s 78018 and 78019 plus Standard 5 4-6-0 73156 behind the tank engine.

WRT the Standards are the 2-6-0 tender types and the 2-6-4 tank types the same loco in different guises?

You can't beat a GCR Gala. No the 2-6-0s are BR Class 2 and the tank is a BR Class 4 so more powerful. The equivalent tender engine for 80080 is a BR Class 4 4-6-0, 75014 for example.
