Funicular


Central Tramway in Scarborough is the oldest surviving tramway company in the country It was established in 1881 and is still owned and operated by the same company that established the Tramway. The tracks are 234 feet long and the gradient of the incline is 1 in 2.8. The counterbalanced carriages are driven by a 60 horsepower electric motor.
