Norbury Colliery

A really special and unexpected find for me was this brick from Norbury Colliery which was situated between Hazel Grove and High Lane on what is now the A6. I have for 30+ years been seeking an example from this brickworks, which was located behind the Robin Hood pub on the north side of the main road from the colliery. The colliery and brickworks was operated by the firm of Clayton & Brooke from the 1830s until all was closed in 1892.
