Oakwell Brickworks

The Hoffmann Kiln at the disused Oakwell Brickworks, Ilkeston, is a grade II listed structure. This has not afforded it any protection from the depredations of the weather and the local populace, and it is now in a sad and ruinous condition. I note that owners Corus have been attempting to have the site zoned for housing development and this will no doubt seal the future fate of the remaining structures. By then the listed kiln will probably have collapsed altogether.
