Photographed at Glenridding camp-site in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, UK. This site is situated on farmland close to some of the most popular areas & walks in the Lake District and we usually stay here for a day or two whenever we're in the area. The first time I stopped here was in 1988 during a week-long hike at Easter and this is one of my two favourite sites (the other is at Brother's Water, located near the Northern end of Kirkstone Pass). I especially like the hot-food van which arrives each morning to supply campers with bacon sandwiches and other "goodies" :-) Photographed with an Olympus SP550UZ "bridge camera" and processed with Nikon Capture NX2.

Bridge House is possibly the most photographed building in the Lake District National Park and a popular subject for many artists, including Turner. A tiny building, originally an apple store for nearby Ambleside Hall, it was built over Stock Beck to escape Land Tax. At one time a family with six children lived here in the two rooms !! Bridge House was built more than 300 years ago. The building was purchased by local people in 1926 and given to the National Trust. It is now used as an information centre for the National Trust and is part of the Trust's Windermere and Troutbeck property. A hiker taking a well-earned rest on the summit of Middle Dodd after trekking up "The Struggle" from Ambleside and over the Kirkstone Pass. This photograph, looking North, was taken with an Olympus Camedia C-1, my first digital camera, with a resolution of only 1.3 megapixels and a tiny 1 inch screen (I was very pleased with it....at the time).
