Skye Trail June 2019

A photographic reference for our journey on the Skye Trail - www.walkhighlands.co.uk/skye/skye-trail.shtml - June 7 - 12th, starting in the north and walking south.

** note on cameras - having to be weight limited, a choice had to be made about the kilo plus weight of a dslr and lenses, or something lighter and, this being Skye, very weatherproof. So in the end the head ruled and this trip was recorded solely on an Olympus TG5, (although the commando monument was done with the canon 450D which didn't make it onto the hike!)

Day 1: Rubha Hunish to Flodigarry (and a wild camp just beyond Flodigarry)

Day 2: progressing through the distinctive landslip geology of the Quiraing and onto the mighty Trotternish Ridge. We had decided to wild camp on the ridge and did so between Flasvein and Craig a' Lain.

Day 3: Broke camp in damp misty low cloud. The weather not being so kind on day 3. Off the ridge and through the Storr - so shrouded in mist that we could barely see the Old Man of Storr. We continued on following the cliff top route south to Portree. And a welcome but late night at Torvaig campsite.

Day 4: Portree to Sligachan.

Day 5: Sligachan to Glasnakille, where we end up with one damaged tent and so press on to finish the trek to Broadford on a long Day 6 via Suisnish and Boreraig.
