Waterdrops

Hello, colour!

Bye-bye sunshine - hello colour, LOL! Definitely needed this shot of colour today - where is the sun hiding? This is just another moment of playing in my kitchen yesterday. A rare, "just about sharp enough" image to post, but I love the orange and blue together! I have several other abstracts to post sometime - please bear with me until/IF I ever get a tiny, table-top tripod to use when attempting supermacros, ha, ha. This is the sharpest of them, so really the others are more for the colour : ) Oh, guess I should just add that this is a tiny petal tip with a couple of water droplets. The white tip is almost translucent and sparkly.

Little round beads

Another attempt at macro using my little Raynox 250. I still have to figure out the best way to take a sharp image, LOL, such as trying again to find somewhere that sells the size of GorillaPod (tripod) that my camera needs. I have a few small, dead Sunflowers in my kitchen and I happened to notice a teeny sparkle from some specks of moisture - barely visible to my eye - in the centre of one. I'm still in awe at the incredible beauty of something so tiny, that one would not normally even notice.

Happy Thanksgiving

Just wanted to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to my kids, all my local friends (including all those wonderful nature-nuts I tend to hang out with, LOL), relatives and friends overseas, and of course all my good Canadian Flickr friends who celebrate this special holiday. A special thought to those of you who are unable to spend the holiday with family or friends - I know it can be a tough time. By the way, I didn't have a pumpkin or a pie to photograph, but wanted something orange (which I associate with Thanksgiving), so here's the tiniest water droplet (could hardly see it!) on a sunflower petal for you. Just another attempt to figure out how to use the Raynox 250 macro lens that I bought quite a while ago, but really all I have produced with it so far are total blurs. This lucky shot was a little better than that, LOL. Of course, I think every day should be Thanksgiving Day - we have so much to be thankful for! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Thought of you, Suzie, needless to say : )

Lots of room for improvement!

I bought a small macro lens for my little point-and-shoot a few weeks ago (Raynox 250). I've only tried maybe a dozen shots and this is the only one that has even a tiny speck of anything close to sharp, LOL! I find it interesting to see just how close one can get - in this case, to the insides of a Tulip. I can see there must be a real knack to using it, plus an awful lot of practice. One of these days ...

Abstract in gold

As you can see, I sure haven't mastered the definite skill of taking SHARP super macros, LOL! However, I rather liked this abstract photo anyway, with the different shades of yellow and orange, so thought I would still post it. Just rest assured, it's not your eyes (or mine), LOL! I think this was a very small Straw Flower. Here, we all need a dose of vivid, warm colour, on yet another dull, gloomy day : ) Temperature is 9C, so it's not really cold, but I'm someone who needs the sun. Tomorrow, a forecast for a high of 2C, with snow. We can't say that it's too early for snow now, but we can say that it's much earlier than we would like.

One tiny petal

Another bit of playing time with my Raynox 250, LOL! This particular small daisy (MUM) had a yellow petal amongst the orange ones. I just liked the colours in this image, even though the composition leaves a lot to be desired : )

Mum's the word

A colorful glimpse at a very small Mum flower, seen through my Raynox 250 macro lens. Didn't have it zoomed in the whole way, though, which is why it's a more distant photo. Just thought the colour and light were quite pretty. Finding it less easy to come up with photos and actually posting them at the moment - not because I don't have any, but going into my archives is not what I particularly like doing. I seem to have lost a bit of my passion for photography at the moment - partly because some of the things I love to photograph are over till next year. Certainly have lost my passion for going on walks, which is not good at all. The recent snow and cold we had started this feeling, but even though we are having pleasant weather right now, I just can't make myself get out there : ) It's just so much easier to stay home. Several things are weighing on my mind and, even though they aren't taking up any of my time, they do have an emotional effect on me because I know they are difficult times for those involved. My brother in England is in hospital after what they think was a mild heart attack recently. Sounds as if they might put in a stent. And my oldest daughter goes in for her bi-annual surgery the day after tomorrow. My youngest daughter from Vancouver had to move back to Calgary a few days ago, as she was unable to find a new job out there. I will have to really push myself to get out there somewhere, preferably before the snow returns : )

Colours of happiness

Knowing that I need to get my supermacros so much sharper, I weakened and bought a table-top tripod late this afternoon. I'm really hoping that it will be sturdy enough to support my Panasonic point-and-shoot - I dislike having to return things : ) Now, I've just got to make myself use it, ha, ha. And, Suzie, I bought a spray bottle while I was in the store, LOL! And I have to make myself use that, too : ) Normally, I just stick to "simple". By the way, this was just a very small Daisy kind of flower, from Safeway. Hope it brightens your day if you've been having a gloomy, grey day : ) Here, we have a couple of nice, sunny days coming up.

Patterns and shapes

Decided to post something that isn't a flower, a bird or a mushroom, LOL! I collected many species of shells many years ago and thought I would use my macro lens on one of them the other day. I've always been fascinated by shells that have a zig-zag pattern on them - can't for the life of me think of the word that is on the tip of my tongue that I wanted to use instead of "zig-zag" : ) Later: the zig-zag patterns remind me of seismographs : ) Think that's the right word.
