Bejewelled

I was at the Calgary Zoo just when they released a fine spray in the butterfly room, covering this gorgeous Water Lily with hundreds of tiny water droplets. Photographed on September 1st.

Colour on the pond

Another photo of the gorgeous Water Lily growing on the pond at an amazingly beautiful acreage south west of the city, down near Millarville. Three of us did a second bio-assessment of this acreage and then were invited to a very enjoyable barbecue there a week ago.

Water Lily

If you happened to see my next four photos (certainly three of them), you might be able to understand why I need to visit the Zoo occasionally to get some photos with colour! This gorgeous Water Lily was growing in the Butterfly House at the Calgary Zoo a while ago. How pretty these flowers are.

Promise of white beauty

These attractive Lily pads were taken at a small pond on an acreage south of the city, near Millarville. This bud will open into a beautiful, white Water Lily. Meanwhile, I thought the colours and patterns of the leaves had their own beauty.

Calgary was the 2nd coldest place on earth yesterday!

And so I needed a warm, colourful shot to post today. I haven't dared look at the weather forecast yet this morning, but it is supposed to get a bit warmer by this afternoon. Tomorrow, things are supposed to improve a lot, thank goodness! The only time I've been out the last three days was a neccessary trip to get groceries yesterday afternoon. Stay warm, everyone! Took this photo of a beautiful Water Lily growing in the ENMAX Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo on October 11th. I love the yellow flower centre - it's so perfect. Last night, I noticed this link to the newspaper article about our weather yesterday on my son's Facebook page. www.calgaryherald.com/technology/Calgary+coldest+place+Ea...

Waterdrops on a lily pad

I just liked the shape and patterns of these water droplets on the lily pads in the tiny pond in the Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. Taken on April 4th. Where DOES all this snow come from??? Yet another day of heavy snow. It's only -4C (24F), thankfully, but, even so ...... That's about seven months of snow : )

Lily burst

A gorgeous Water Lily that was growing in the old Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo. The new building that recently opened has an indoor pond, too, but it has not yet been filled with water. I'm really hoping that they will have these Water Lilies growing again!

Autumn Lily pads

I liked the colours and shapes of these thin, flat Lily pads on a small pond at an acreage near Millarville (south of the city). My other photos include a gorgeous flower, but I still liked this one of just the leaves. Interestingness#375 explore2008October25

Double the beauty

This was the only time I remember going to the Butterfly House in the Conservatory at the Calgary Zoo when there were two different kinds of Water Lily growing.
