Finally!

If I remember correctly, the last Great Gray Owl I had seen was while I was on a May Species Count in 2017. Finally, yesterday, 10 March 2018, I was in luck again, though photos were very limited. Practically every photo was taken in this tree, with the same pose. Better than nothing, for sure.
I had set out with the hope of finding a Great Gray and, thanks to a friend who had already found one, it was a lucky day for me. The owl was perched deep within a stand of trees when I first arrived. After a while, it flew to this tree and then back to the woods, where it continued to sit, mainly hidden behind a whole tangle of thin branches, making photos impossible.
The weather has warmed up the last day or two, with lots of sunshine, and the masses of snow are just beginning to melt. Ready for the next snowfall that is forecast to arrive next Thursday and Friday.
Note: friends and I saw two different Great Gray Owls this morning, 11 March 2018. Feeling very fortunate to have seen three of these spectacular owls in two days.
