SWERVE magazine, 12 December 2014 - #6 my Great Gray Owl

NOTE: these are NOT all my photos, only #6 the Great Gray Owl. Three other of my photos are on different pages.
This is a screen shot of one and a bit of the pages in an article about winter birding, seen this week (12 December 2014) in the SWERVE magazine. On this page, #6 (Great Gray Owl) is one of my photos. My other photos on different pages are a Common Redpoll, a photo of the back of a birder's head wearing a beautiful knitted toque, and a distant photo of a group of birding friends at Frank Lake. The other beautiful photos belong to various people I know.
SWERVE is a free magazine that comes with the Calgary Herald newspaper on the Friday of each week. I haven’t bought newspapers for maybe 15 years or so, but this screen shot was taken when the author (Tyee Bridge) sent us a pdf file of what his excellent article looked like. Yesterday, I braved the Christmas crowds and dashed out to buy copies for myself and my daughters. The photos are also online, but for some strange reason, not one of the four photos of mine that were used on three different pages in the printed version were included online. Must have been a slip up – a shame, especially as so many people use the online version of the magazine, but nothing can be done about it. I was just happy to see that they were still included in the printed magazine.
As for Tyee himself: “His writing has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Swerve magazine, Westworld, BC Business, and many other publications. He is the recipient of four National Magazine Awards and seven Western Magazine Awards since 2007.” From the following link.

“Swerve is a weekly Calgary magazine devoted to covering a wide swath of the city's arts, entertainment and cultural scene. Our readers—men, women, young and old, and everyone in between—are intelligent, engaged Calgarians who love our quirky, 100 per cent original content generated by the best local (and national) writers, illustrators and photographers. Since it was founded in 2004, Swerve has won more than 60 national, international and regional magazine awards.” From the AlbertaMagazines website.
