Afternoon nap with Mom

An old photo from my archives that I always thought was rather cute. This is Mom Great Horned Owl and one of her two owlets, at Burnsmead, Fish Creek Park, taken on 16th June 2009. Though they look as though they were almost at my eye level and quite close, they were in fact extremely high up in a very tall tree - thank you, zoom! Mom's face feathers are stained from the blood of the various prey that had been caught to feed her two hungry youngsters.
