Dad on guard

During our major snowstorm last weekend, I just had to face the bitter winds and go and check on "my" owls in a local park. I couldn't see anyone in the nesting tree, and I'm sure that Mum must have been down low, protecting herself (and any eggs/young) from the snow and cold. This is Dad, perched in one of his usual trees just across the small park road, opposite the nesting tree, where he sits and keeps guard. Though his feathers look unruffled, his ear tufts were blowing like crazy and he didn't open his eyes when looking at me. It was an absolutely brutal day!
