Great Horned Owl

Went for a walk this afternoon to check on "my" Great Horned Owls. Saw all three, each one sitting in a different tree, which is more unusual. This one was maybe an arm's length above head level, basking in the rather harsh sunlight. Hardly looks like winter in this photo - was something like -11C this afternoon. A good job there is supposed to be a break from our bitter -20C to -30C temperatures, as this morning, in my rush to meet friends for a walk, I drove out of my parking stall with the block heater plug still plugged in! Result: the plug was broken off the end of the cord and I guess I will have to pay for a new cord to be installed. Grrr...!
