Liverwort

This strange plant (a Liverwort) was growing at the Reader Rock Garden. Only very tiny, but fascinating when you take a closer look.

Instead of bearing regular roots, liverworts anchor themselves with rather primitive and simple, one-celled appendages known as rhizoids.
