Malta 1990

Sea and Blue Sky... It's rather grey today - so I thought I dig a bit into my archives. This is from a holiday on Malta Island. An amazing place - it seems as if over the centuries (or rather millennia) people came and went, left their monuments and belongings. Most amazing the Neolithic temples that are scattered allover the island and also on Gozo, the neighbouring island (which compared to Malta is very green and humid). These are photos I took with a manual camera - I think digital cameras weren't really 'in' at that time... ;) Do you still remember this feeling of tension whether the pics turned out fine or not... This is the temple of Mnajdra; not as spectacular as its much larger neighbour of Hagar Qim ... but so much more cosy - with a magnificent view over the sea and on the island Filfla which you can see on the left hand side of the picture. ... in der Sonne? Malta war auch ganz schön (obwohl im Januar sicherlich auch nicht so sonnig und warm wie damals im Oktober). ;-)

Eine neolithische Tempelanlage, ca. 3000 v. Chr. - als bei uns in Deutschland die Megalithgräber gebaut wurden. Die Anlagen hier auf Malta sehen allerdings etwas kunstfertiger aus! (Und hier liegt gerade Schnee). :)

Diesen Tempel hier mussten wir wirklich suchen. Er gehörte nicht zum Touristen-Repertoire, und man musste über Felder fahren, um hierhin zu gelangen. Es war eine schöne Abendstimmung. Warum all der Aufwand? Ich hatte gerade ein Referat über die Tempelanlagen auf Malta gehalten und war natürlich gespannt, das alles in natura zu sehen.

Dort war es damals ganz schön warm... Ich dachte, ich bringe mal wieder etwas sonnige Urlaubsstimmung ein. ;-) Das ist die Kirche von Mosta - mit der viertgrössten Kirchenkuppel der Welt. Immerhin!

Um an diesen Strand zu kommen, musste man ziemlich weit abwärts fahren. Sandstrände sind auf Malta eher selten. Wäre doch jetzt ganz schön - ein bisschen Meeresrauschen, eine sanfte Brise, etc. pp. ... ;-)
