View on the Ilmpark

The Ilmpark is the largest and best-known landscape park in Weimar (Thuringia). Since its construction in the 18th century (co-designed by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe himself) it has not changed much and is one of the best preserved classicistic and romantic parks.. Characteristic are its line of sights, the bridges, its manifold architecture and its valuable tree population (partly from abroad). The Ilmpark is part of the ensemble "Classicist Weimar" that was listed for the UNESCO world cultural heritage in 1998.
