Rhonda Hampton: Celtic Knot Mug

Here is a mug with one of my favorite designs, the Celtic knot. Beautifully applied here with wonderful detail, there were many lovely designs like this on Rhonda's stone ware. Rhonda Hampton: Beautiful Mug Interior

One of my favorite things I like to do when I see stone ware is to peek inside to see if there's something special about the glazing. I especially love pottery exteriors which are fairly modest, and yet, whe you look inside, you are hit with a dazzling display of bright colors. I was delighted with the many-hued, richly colored interiors of every piece I looked into! Rhonda Hampton: Goose in Flight Mug

This image was taken at an odd angle and I think it suits this lovely mug adorned with a goose in flight. Rhonda Hampton: Tribal Bear Mug

I would also call this image, "Shadowplay". I really liked how the lights created interesting shadows on pieces nearby. Here a mug handle created a shadow leading line that touches the subject of this photo, Rhonda's exquisitely detailed tribal bear on the side of her mug. Clayfolk Art Show!! This is Rhonda Hampton: Starry Candle Lamp

Steve and I got the chance to go to a wonderful art show in Medford a few days ago, hosted by southern Oregon's Potter's Association, "Clayfolk" ( www.clayfolk.org/ ). Rhonda's stone ware and pit-fired pots are wonderful to behold, each with a special detail that makes them stand out in a way that makes one stop and appreciate with admiration. This beautiful candle lamp stole my attention when I visited Rhonda's booth and it was very hard to resist the temptation to run my fingers over the star-covered surface! The warm tones present on of all of Rhonda's work was very inviting to me and had a very comforting quality. I have 5 images in this set for you to enjoy. I hope you will take the time to all 5 of the images--Rhonda's pieces are lovely and detailed. Rhonda's is the second of many artists whose work I'll be portraying over the next week or two. I hope you enjoy this show! Rhonda Hampton: Gorgeous Pit-Fired Pot

Last night, while looking through the photos I'd taken at the Clayfolk art show, I discovered that I'd overlooked one of Rhonda Hampton's pieces! I was initially saddened when I thought I'd missed taking any pictures of her wonderful pit-fired pots, because they are so different from her stoneware. Rhonda's lovely mugs and candle lamps have a much more tactile, "must touch" feeling and appearance, wheras, her pit-fired pots are delicate looking treasures which, in my eyes, belong as a center piece in a gallery or upon a pedestal in a fine home. I love this piece so much, with its beautiful many-hued colors and wonderful detail. It positively glows, and demands moments of study to properly appreciate it. Each of Rhonda's pit-fired pots had me wishing I could turn them around to admire every inch of their surface. I will have another artist's pieces in place late this evening, but I wanted to include Rhonda's now!
