On the way to the Golden Gate Bridge, my father and I stopped here so I could take some pictures. I had a BLAST!

Legion of Honor: Rodin's "The Thinker"

Imagine my surprise when I noticed this sculpture, located in the inner entrance of the Legion of Honor. Why...the last time I saw this amazing sculpture was when I was about 21 years old, straining to get a peek through a fence in Paris, where the original is located. Sadly, the Musee Rodin was closed on the day I went to visit. I was overjoyed to see a replication here in San Francisco! If you would like to know more about this famous sculpture, please visit this Wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thinker This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.

Legion of Honor: Inner Entrance

(for those of you who are interested in seeing my San Francisco trip images, I have uploaded 5 pictures in this batch [63 in the past couple of weeks]. Thanks everyone for your comments and your visits to my photostream! I hope you enjoy the show!) The Legion of Honor is a museum in Lincoln Park (next to the Presidio which overlooks the Pacific Ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge). The building is a three-quarter-scale version of the Paris hotel, the Palais de la Légion d'Honneur and was completed in 1924. The plaza and fountain in front of the Palace of the Legion of Honor is the western terminus of the Lincoln Highway, the first road across America. If you would like to know more about the Legion of Honor, please visit this Wiki page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_Legion_of_Honor By the way, for those of you who may not know, there is a very fun, free Flickr competition site which you might like to take part in. It's called FlickrDuel.com and features dozens of ongoing competitions, or duels every day. You can enter your pictures into many different categories and vote on contests too. It's another way to enjoy your photography! This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.

Rusting Granite Plinth Under "El Cid"

At some point, this plinth began to sustain cracking damage and is now leaking rust from within, creating colorful, oxidized green streaks down the sides of "El Cid's platform. This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.

Ornate Lamps

This beautiful lamp was one of dozens located along the street near the Legion of Honor. I don't remember when I've seen a prettier street light! This image was taken during my trip to San Francisco during September 12-15, 2011.
