Steve Jobs, RIP

Steve Jobs, RIP
On Wednesday, October 5, 2011, we lost a great man. A visionary. A person who changed the world.

I was just a teenager when Apple emerged on the computer scene. When I was 18 years old, I bought my first computer, an Apple IIe. I spent countless hours using it for school, for chatting on BBS's, and playing games like Wizardry, Ultima and Bard's Tale. My next Mac was an SE, which I wrote a book on, and taught myself how to use a number of programs while I worked at my first computer service bureau job. Then I moved up to a Mac II, and on it, I learned about graphic design and launched my career as a print designer. Next I got a Quadra. What a power house! It served me well while I continued to develop my skills as a designer. The year 2000 was when I got a Power Mac G3. Since then I have had two Macbook Pro's. It's true that I use my PC most of the time now because it's my most advanced machine, but the monitor? Thanks Steve...I see the Internet on my Apple 22" Cinema Display and even after five years, it's the best monitor I've ever owned!

I love my iPods and I love my iPad. I use them every day and I am always delighted by their sleek design and ease of use.

I knew that Steve would die. We all knew it was coming, but how do you prepare yourself for the loss of a legend? I know that Steve left Apple in good hands, but his passing is a heavy blow. I hope that Apple carries Steve's vision into the future. I'm a fan for life.

I invite you to listen to a his 2005 Stanford Commencement Speech. It is extremely memorable: www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1R-jKKp3NA
