The Once and Future Lake, part II
Refilled Washoe Lake with a lone cottonwood ( Populus fremontii ) in winter garb. The inset shows the same tree, leafed out, in summer of 2015 at the height of the drought. The dark surface in the background in that pic is _not_ water; it's darker dried mud. The lake was completely dry.
I didn't recover the exact photo position, but at least it's recognizable.
