McLoughlin, one of the stratovolcanoes in the southern Oregon Cascades, is named for the Hudson's Bay factor who became known as the "Father of Oregon." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_McLoughlin Mt. McLoughlin looks like a nice symmetrical cone, but that's as viewed from the south! There's a big cirque on the northeast side. Location is that of the mountain rather than the photo point.

Klamath Falls Wildlife Refuge, in extreme northern California about 1/4 mile south of the Oregon line. This is a major stopover point for these birds.
