Very Large Sugar Pine (I'm pretty sure, anyway, based on its size if nothing else). Near the Pacific Crest Trail in California's Sierra Nevada, between Carson Pass and Forestdale Summit. The scale isn't apparent in this photo; check the note to see how big the trunk really is! Undoubtedly this patriarch saw a California-bound covered wagon or two pass by 150+ years ago.
