CA - SR 2/Angeles Crest

Plus the Big Tujunga Canyon road at the west. SR 2 is the Angeles Crest Highway, which runs along near the crest of the San Gabriel Mountains, the fault-block range that defines the northern boundary of the Los Angeles basin. It's surprisingly spectacular, passing Mt. Wilson (site of the observatory), several wilderness areas (!), and a couple of small ski resorts(!!). It's not the sort of terrain people usually visualize when they hear "Southern California"! SR 2 ends at CA SR 138 in the Mojave Desert outside Victorville.
