
NNev - Incandescent Rocks

A BLM natural area about 20 miles north of Reno. It includes some intensely red colored volcanic units, as well as some uranium mines and prospects. One mine, the Lowary Mine, was briefly active in the 50s.

A BLM (Bureau of Land Management) designated scenic area and area of critical environmental concern in the Painted Hills, about 20 miles north of Reno, Nevada. Deeply colored volcanic rocks yield scenery reminiscent of the red sandstones in the Colorado Plateau.
