As seen from the newly opened bypass bridge. Looking upstream; Nevada on the left, Arizona on the right, the Colorado River in the middle. The camouflaged WW II pillbox is outline in the upper left. The dam, the first bit water-storage and hydroelectric facility on the Colorado, was completed in 1936. Its reservoir, Lake Mead, is now the source of much of Las Vegas's water.
