Bodie, California, USA
|
|
An old gold mining town, now preserved as a California State Park. Looking back northeasterly from Boot Hill. The old mill, the subject of a tour documented in some of the other pics in this set, is visible in the center of this picture. Mills in the American West (and presumably elsewhere) were always built on a hill, so that the ore could be put in at the top and moved thru the processing by gravity.
