White Rock Lake
A small Pacific Gas & Electric reservoir in the upper reaches of the South Yuba River, on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada. The fires haven't reached here yet, anyway. It's suspected that a spark from PG&E's equipment triggered the Dixie Fire, which is raging mostly out of control about 30 miles northwest. The insets show some other views in the vicinity, near the dam.
White Rock Lake
The dam for White Rock Lake. Thank you PG&E!
Looking back at Mt. Lola
The high point of the rounded rise on the skyline in the middle of the pic.
Summit of Mt. Lola
2787 m. Highest point in the northern Sierra Nevada, and accessed by a hiking trail that crosses the summit. Insets show some other views in the vicinity. Mt. Lola is named for Lola Montez, a 19th century showgirl and entertainer noted for her shameless self-promotion. The American Way, I guess-- ;)
