Mail Box In the Middle of Nowhere. This standard type USPS mailbox sits incongruously on a post in Washoe Lake State Park, Nevada, a mile or so from the nearest trailhead. Looks bizarre--but I'm told it's part of a horse obstacle course. The idea is that you're supposed to ride up to the mailbox and open it all without getting off your horse--and without your horse freaking out! There is still some water standing from the heavy rains in March.
