Magpie

Black-billed or American magpie (Pica hudsonia), which is in the same genus and looks very similar to the European magpie, but is now considered a separate species based on DNA studies. Scripps Wildlife area, Washoe Valley, Nevada, USA. They're famous as roadkill scavengers in this part of the world, but like most corvids are opportunistic predators as well. In fact, they're opportunists generally--probably why they've dealt with humans' incursions pretty well!
