Ocotillo
Another characteristic component of the Sonoran desert flora, often occurring with palo verde and saguaro. The stalks have big thorns, and the tiny leaves along the stalk appear only during wet conditions. The fact that this one is leafed out indicates recent rain! It's oh-coh-TEE-yoh, btw.
