Spiraea splendens?

Spiraea splendens?
I think! (Confirmation, Pam?) Just off the Pacific Crest Trail about 5 miles south of Jackson Meadows Reservoir, California.

Don Barrett (aka DBs travels) has particularly liked this photo

Thanks, Pam! As I've said, you seem to know lots of this stuff right off the top of your head--

Nope.... I have had to learn from scratch.

When I came here nearly 9 years ago.... I had a sound knowledge of UK//Europe natural history. I came here and..... EVERYTHING was different... birds/flowers/trees/grasses/mammals/insects/EVERYTHNG. had to learn by looking up everything. It was like being a 5 year old again. For a while it was deeply depressing... I felt as if I had lost so much.

Now... I search quicker ( I do well with searches.... its in the how you phrase it) .... and have started to get something of a mental data base again. But its been hard won.
