Interesting cloud formation. In the first picture I thought maybe it was some sort of camera mistake, but it's real.

Yeah, I specifically stopped to photograph it. It's called "mammatus" (presumably from a fancied resemblance to teats hanging down), and results from cold dense downdrafts dropping out of the cloud. You'd want to dodge them if you were airborne!
