FYI, I was in Tonopah in October and a guy at my motel said that the mines at Manhattan had been reopened due to new technology for mining gold.

Interesting--I'll bet the "new technology" is nothing more than another variation on heap leach. There was that small but nice new motel in Manhattan, where we'd stayed in '09 a couple of times. Their website is no longer functioning, and I'd wondered what happened--probably they're full of miners all the time now and don't need to advertise!

I suspect its nothing radically new in technology, my understanding is that the price of gold is high enough now that it has made it worthwhile to spend $$$ just to get tiny flecks.

When I in Manhattan a couple of years ago, the motel wasn't open. It might have reopened, but it seems like Tonopah is getting most of the business.
