If I may ask, is the light colored path here the main road in the area, or something worn by off roaders? (Or neither?)

The path coming up from the bottom of the canyon is the old Jeep road, which went to some prospects farther up the canyon. The trail we're on, which joins it just to the left of center, is a new hiking/horse trail that bypasses the narrows at the mouth of the canyon. We went back that way--the creek ("South Twin River"(!)) was low enough that fording it was not a problem! The area is all wilderness now, so there's no motorized travel.
