Mined out

Mined out
Following the vein. Mizpah Mine, Tonopah, Nevada, USA, now on the grounds of the new (and excellent) mining museum. The Mizpah was primarily a silver producer. The name looks Paiute ("pah" = "water" in Shoshoni, as in "Tonopah" itself), but evidently it's from the Old Testament. It was named by Belle Butler, wife of the discoverer and co-owner of the mine. Belle was apparently quite the businesswoman, and in a more recent era would no doubt have been one of the mine executives in her own right.
