Blaze

Trail from Burnside Lake to Grover Hot Springs, Sierra Nevada, California. More trail maintenance--the newly fallen log has been chain-sawed out of the way. Also note the blaze (area chopped out to show the white wood beneath) on the tree (outlined). The US Forest Service was still marking trails with blazes (just like Daniel Boone et al.!) as late as 1960.
