Lassen Peak

Lassen Peak
Centerpiece of the eponymous national park, California, USA. The southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range; it last erupted in 1914. Looking north from a Forest Service road.

All the Cascade stratovolcanoes are wired for sound now, as well as Yellowstone, Mammoth (Long Valley), and the Valles Caldera in New Mexico. Again, tho, whether any warnings would be heeded is an issue--

Well, as I remarked before, the forest bounces back quickly! The 1914 eruption was on the east side, and there's still a devastated area there, but it's recovered a lot over a century. Contemporary photos look a lot like the devastated area around St. Helens, but now it's hard to tell.
