Pine drop

Pterospora andromeda. A curious higher plant related to blueberry that is native to the coniferous or mixed forests of North America. It has lost all its chlorophyll and lives in a parasitic relationship with a fungus. Here's the Wikipedia writeup: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pine_drop. This specimen is in the Sierra Nevada, California, near Ebbets Pass.
