Hoodoos

Hoodoos
Fisher Towers, Utah, USA. A BLM (Bureau of Land Management) interpretive area near Moab. Balanced rocks like this have been used to infer the level of paleoseismic activity. It doesn't take much of an earthquake to knock 'em down! This sort of study was pioneered by Jim Brune, professor emeritus at the University of Nevada, Reno seismo lab.

Gudrun, Don Sutherland, have particularly liked this photo

Thanks, everyone! Like so many places in this part of Utah, anywhere else it'd at least be a state park. Here it's just a BLM interpretive area.
