Lincoln Highway marker, Carson City
On King's Canyon Road west of town. Looking east. This was the original alignment of the Lincoln Highway. The road turns to dirt a couple of miles west of here, and then degenerates into a Jeep road that is now passable only to ATVs, due to blockage by a rockslide. It's surreal to think of the flivvers picking their way along what's now a dirt track carved out of the mountainside.

I think about that (the barely graded roads of the 10's and 20's) often when exploring around Nevada.
