On to White Mountain Peak!

The high point on the skyline in the middle of the photo. UC's (University of California) Barcroft Experimental Station had an open house that day, so you could drive in and start the hike there. It saves about 2 miles and 1000' off the usual trailhead! The road along this high plateau at the range crest is over 10K feet. White Mountain Peak itself has an elevation of 14,252 feet (4,344 m). Btw, these are the White Mountains in eastern California, not in New Hampshire!
