Just off the north of Death Valley National Park, heading north into Nevada. White Mountains on the left. There's about 4 inches (10 cm) or so of snow on the road; deeper when drifted. Driving was just a bit nerve-wracking, even with the 4x4...

Thanks! Les, the absence of traffic was part of the problem--no one is going to happen along if you get stuck! We didn't see anybody for miles--which has its attractions, to be sure. Anyway, we got out OK.

Thanks! You'd asked about this road at one point--to the south it drops into Eureka Valley and intersects the road from Big Pine to Ubehebe.
