I'm assuming the barriers were some sort of regulatory requirement. They were bringing trucks with drilling rigs up along this road, and they probably have to outline the road. The barriers are made of thick hollow plastic and filled with water!
If their drilling program finds economic mineralization, this area is not likely to be open to the public much longer--
