I often wonder whether your explorations into remote areas are on your own or with others. Since I travel alone, I'd be hesitant to go quite so remote.

Heh. This was a group camp with a bunch of my wife's coworkers. Usually it's not quite so crowded! My big hiking trips are usually with my wife, and big car trips with my son (my wife hates bouncing along 4WD roads for hours!)

I like traveling alone and the ease of taking spontaneous explorations, but it does have the cost of concerns about getting stuck in the middle of nowhere.
